TESOL-Spain's 24th Annual National Convention

This
is a quest! And only a quest! A quest for more professionalism within our field.
A quest for better teaching practices to enhance learning. A quest for more
personal growth as teachers. A quest for TEACHER DEVELOPMENT. I think we are
always looking for ways to develop as teachers at meetings such as this one, but
we will be making a special effort to offer a means to develop the whole of our
teaching at the 24th annual TESOL-Spain convention: 2001: A Quest for Teacher
Development.
It will be held on March 30, 31 and April 1 in Seville, Spain. Seville is the capital of Andalusia, the southern-most region of Spain, and it promises everlasting sunshine to all of its visitors. The conference site is the University of Seville, Facultad de Filología, Carmen’s tobacco factory, formally known as the Real Fábrica de Tabacos, an 18th-century building lying in the heart of Seville. It is one block from María Luisa Park, a vast tract of parkland, which was once the private grounds of a palace. In 1929, Seville was host to the Spanish-American Exhibition, and many pavilions from different countries were erected here. And it is two blocks from one of the world's largest cathedrals, a huge Gothic construction built on the site of an ancient mosque and its connecting Giralda, a Moorish tower, whose climb to the top is an experience of a lifetime, offering a dazzling view of Seville. A most impressive site for a conference, do you agree?
We have formed our convention organizing committee and we would like to use this opportunity to call on volunteers who are interested in helping to bring this convention together.
Like at every TESOL-Spain convention, we have received presentations by speakers from all over the world.
These presentations will be on approaches, techniques and methodology for infants, primary, secondary, university and adult teachers and learners. There will be opportunities to make contact with colleagues who share the same professional interests, to exchange ideas, to socialize, and even to look for prospective employers/employees. As usual, there will be product presentations and the event will be fully supported by the publishing houses and testing institutions, both nationally and internationally. All the latest materials for both the teacher and the classroom will be on display.
The preprogram for this event will be coming out in January 2001 and this will include convention registration and accommodation information as well as a preview of our speakers. If you would like to be on our mailing list, please contact me immediately. This event has been proposed to receive official accreditation by the Spanish Ministry of Education
, with final approval to be announced at a later date. Both Seville and I are looking forward to providing a forum for Teacher Development!
