BEFORE using the WWW:
What do you know about British history?
Make a list of some typical vocabulary associated with history.
What tenses do you think are most used when talking about history?
USING the WWW:
Read these instructions and then click on START at the end of the page to begin. You are going to visit a site on the internet which has lots of information about British history.
You can see there are differrent sections, each using a different media. Choose one item from ANIMATION or VIDEO and make notes on some of the facts, the vocabulary and the tenses used.
TIP
Now do the same for the AUDIO section.
TIP
Use the search possibilities BY TOPIC, BY TIME or BY PEOPLE to find more information about what you have seen and listened to.
TIP
Make more notes of information, vocabulary and some expressions used in these texts.
AFTER using the WWW:
Look through your notes and prepare a talk on two topics for the class.
Think about the language you might use: some vocabulary and expressions from the internet? Some conjunctions from the internet? What tenses do you think you will use.
For homework you might like to write this talk into a paragraph so that you revise the structures and your teacher can correct or help you with any items which are not clear..
