BEFORE using the WWW:
Have you ever seen an episode of the X-Files on TV? Compare what you know about the show with a partner.
Write a list of verbs, adjectives and nouns you think are to be heard in a typical episode.
Write a brief dialogue between two of the shows characters? Is it formal or informal? More American or British English? Does this make it easier or more difficult for you to understand if you heard the show in English?

The link will take you to the official homepage of the X-Files. Because it is for a native English speaking audience the language on this site might be a bit difficult. The site does use a mixture of pictures, text, video etc which, together, may help you understand.
Choose one EPISODE you have seen or would like to see. Each episode has a combination of text information, pictures, video and audio.
Choose one of these media and write ten questions for another student. The content is quite difficult so remember to use these tips when using different media. TEXT:

Go to the BIOGRAPHY section and make notes about one of the characters. Is there an interview? Is there an accompanying photo or video which helps you understand this person better?
AFTER using the WWW:
Report to the class some of the information you found.
Write another dialogue between two of the characters using some of the ideas and language you have seen on this website.?
Check with your teacher how informal some of your expressions are in this dialogue ... too informal for the First Certificate exam?
