Notes on accommodations:

As the convention centre is on the outskirts of Valencia, all accommodation except for the GALILEO GALILEI teacher and student halls, based on site, are between 5 to 10 minutes away by bus.

I have limited allocation for the nights of 4th and 5th at the following hotels and will be working on a first come, first served basis. To secure a reservation, a deposit of 50% is required with the balance to be paid at least one month in prior to the arrival date.

CONSUL DEL MAR - Avda. del Puerto 39 - Officially classed as a three-star hotel but in reality far superior to some of the four star hotels I have seen. A small independently owned hotel. Bedrooms are tastefully furnished and every bath has a hydromassage. Smoking and non smoking rooms are available on request IN ADVANCE. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gymnasium.

Five minutes by taxi from the train station, five minutes by bus into the centre of town and 5 - 7 minutes by bus to the Polytechnic.

NH VILLACARLOS - Avda. del Puerto, 60 - Opposite the Consul del Mar. Another small hotel with the usual NH quality.

HOTEL CONTINENTAL, Calle Correos, 8 - A good but basic two-star hotel, five minutes walk from the station and 10 minutes by bus to the Polytechnic.

HOSTAL VENECIA - Calle en Llop, 5 - Just off the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. A good quality two-star hostal, five minutes walk from the station andd 10 minutes by bus to the Polytechnic.

GALILEO GALILEI UNIVERSITY RESIDENCE - Excellent teacher and student accommodation on site.

All rates are in Euros and include breakfast and VAT. For nights outside the conference, please consult.

TRAINS - I have negotiated a 30% discount each way for trains during the conference period. In reality, if you are booking a return trip which always gives 20% then the discount overall is 10%. TRAINS FROM BOTH MADRID AND BARCELONA HAVE LIMITED CAPACITY IN TOURIST CLASS, APPROX. 74 NON SMOKERS AND 38 SMOKERS SEATS. Reservations cannot be made until 8 weeks in advance but I would suggest that you let me have your requirements as soon as possible to make sure you are not disappointed as the general public will also be travelling on these trains.

AIR TRAVEL - Under certain circumstances, air travel within Spain may be subject to a 20% reduction for parties of 10 or more. Contact Jenny for details. For electronic ticketing on Iberia, a discount of 3% may be available for certain flights.

For flights from the U.K., British Airways have return offers subject to availability. Reservations and ticket issue should be made at least 30 days prior to departure, so it is a questions of first come, first served.
