Future of English Language Teaching conference

Trinity College London has confirmed the headline speakers Chia Suan Chong and Masatoshi Sato will lead its inspiring 10th anniversary annual Future of English Language Teaching (FoELT) conference on 4 October 2025, with registration now open for the free online event.
Researcher Masatoshi Sato will deliver the opening plenary examining teacher-researcher collaboration. Writer and trainer Chia Suan Chong presents the closing session on helping students mediate global communication. Both sessions address practical ESP integration in diverse learning contexts.
"FoELT represents Trinity's commitment to supporting ELT professionals through high-quality, accessible professional development," said Dr Ben Beaumont, Head of English Language Teacher Strategy at Trinity College London. "This milestone conference demonstrates the continuing evolution of English language teaching."
The programme features 20 specialist practitioners across four strands. Technology sessions explore AI applications and ethical frameworks. Young Learners presentations cover gamification and translanguaging strategies for emergent bilingual students.
Teacher Education sessions examine career-change support and assessment methodology. ESP presentations address academic writing research and professional communication training for public-facing roles.
Notable speakers include Marina Yesipenko on ESP for media professionals, Joseph Yaw Dawson on gamification methodologies, and Emma Meade-Flynn on emergent language strategies. Sessions include interactive elements and downloadable classroom resources.
The conference is open to ESL teachers, trainers, academic managers, and researchers globally. Previous years’ events have attracted thousands of participants from over 100 countries. Industry professionals can participate online across time zones with full on-demand access to session recordings after the event.
Trinity will also present updates on three new products: ISE Digital 4-skills online test, the GESE for School and GESE for Work new pathway additions to its unique spoken English suite of exams, and Trinity Stars – Young Performers Awards. These developments reflect Trinity's response to evolving teacher and learner needs.
FoELT operates as Trinity's flagship continuing professional development initiative. Trinity College London, established in 1872, provides English language qualifications across 60 countries.
